About 750,000 gallons discharged from a sewer main near East Amarillo Creek
The City reported that a sewer main failure discharged about 750,000 gallons of untreated wastewater from a manhole just east of East Amarillo Creek, between West and East Chaparral Road. Water Utilities was notified at 11:30 a.m. and stopped the discharge at 3:25 p.m. The wastewater reached the creek and possibly flowed toward Thompson Park Lake; the City advised against recreational contact in the lake and part of the creek and notified TCEQ.[1][2][3]
